This route wins my vote for the most laid-back drive in California. There's little traffic, the scenery is amazing, there are several fun, twisty sections, and the road, for the most part, has good surface.

I've had several enjoyable runs through this canyon and recommend it highly if you have a few hours to spare and need to get from the coast to I5. If you're planning on heading to Grant's Pass, take the Greyback Road up over the pass to Cave Junction, OR, otherwise, keep on until you reach I5.
